The Fireweed Community Market is funded by the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (S-CAP). This funding will help us run the following 4 programs from 2023-2025
Did you know that qualifying agricultural vendors receive a 50% sponsorship of vendor membership, and booth rental fees at our market?! Qualifying partial ag vendors will receive a 25% sponsorship! The Fireweed Market is a great place for farmers & gatherers to connect directly with their customers, and we want to do everything we can to make it affordable.
The Champion of Local Food award is a recognition program created to highlight the use of Yukon grown or raised products in prepared foods. Vendors who have incorporated local agricultural products in their prepared foods are given a “Blue Ribbon” Champion of Local Food award to display at their booths.
Look for these awards as you visit our market!
Free to participants, these drop-in style workshops and demonstrations happen during our Outdoor Markets. Workshops focus on sharing backyard gardening, regenerative farming, vermiculture, wild harvesting, and fermenting information & techniques with community members.
Stay tuned for 2024 workshop themes!
The Harvest Raffle is a weekly, charitable lottery of locally farmed and produced foods. Every week, the market staff purchase $200 worth of locally farmed, raised, and harvested food to fill two baskets.. Market goers can purchase a ticket for $2. The funds are then donated to the Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre & The Kaushee’s Place shelter. The baskets may include items such as: vegetables, herbs, meat, fish, grain, eggs, dairy, mushrooms, jams, preserves, teas or other locally grown/raised/gathered food items available that week. The winning ticket is drawn at 6pm every market day, and the lucky winner picks up their goods during the next hour.
