Alexandra Maltais became the Treasurer of the Fireweed Community Market Society in November 2022, shortly after joining the board that March following a business degree at the University of Victoria and a four-month travel stint. Back in her hometown of Whitehorse, Alexandra was eager to get involved in her community and found her place at the Fireweed Market. Passionate about community and sustainability, Alexandra is particularly enthusiastic about sustainable fashion. She runs a small thrift and vintage business on the side. She loves the sense of community at the Fireweed Market, from working out solutions with fellow board members to enjoying the energy and smiles of market-goers. Outside of work, you can find her hiking, snowboarding, at a local cafe, or nowhere (exploring the world!). Annually, you'll often find her behind the cash register at the market’s 12 Days of Christmas sale, enjoying the festive spirit and the chance to chat with locals who support and celebrate the talent within the community.
